Beckers Kaffeekontor & Espressobar - Bochum

The hot chocolate: Actually they offer two kinds of hot chocolate: The Italian Chocciolato and a classic hot chocolate. I chose the Italian version. It's thick, creamy, tasty. Everything is well done, the taste could be even better, but so far this is the best hot chocolate in Bochum.

The price: 2,80 Euro.

The cafe: Small cafe at a busy corner in Bochum. Rather modern furniture. Friendly staff and also very good food.

Cafehaus - Herne

Today I visited Cafehaus in Herne after a day on the christmas market. Herne is not so well known for its numerous good cafes. Cafehaus is surely one of the better ones.

The hot chocolate: Cafehaus is another cafe selling large brand hot chocolate. They are going for the Zotter chocolate bars. Zotter is producing really decent chocolate, but as with all chocolate in bar form, is hard to produce a homogenous chocolate. Cafehaus sells the hot chocolate as DIY set with steamed hot milk in a glass with cream on top and the wrapped Zotter bar. The milk itself tasted a bit dull (too much steam, too little milk?) and the bar did not dissolve. I must say, that if you are going for Zotter, you should visit the Schokoladentheater at Limbecker Platz in Essen. They are doing it right.... (I should write a review as soon as I get there again)

The price: 3,30 Euro. Considering the quality and the retail price of Zotter bars that's not really reasonable.

The cafe: The cafe is rather modern with one large room and black furniture. It offers not only coffee, but also dinner. Rather nice place, but it's not the cosy kind of cafe.
