Cafe Nikolausruhe - Würzburg

While talking about Eraclea, there is a place in Würzburg offering their chocolate, too.

The hot chocolate: One gets a medium sized cup of chocolate, topped with cream. Although the consistency is very soft, the taste is still very intense. So it seems they only mess up the part, where the chocolate is reduced.

The price: Very reasonable 2-3 Euro.

The cafe: Unimposing from the outside, you'll soon find yourself in a real coffee house atmosphere. A large variety of home made cakes are offered.

Unknown Name - Ljubljana

In the first contribution to this blog I would like to review a chocolate that I could enjoy only once. Since this is six years ago, I can only hope that this cafe still exists. Any comment on the fate of that place is very much appreciated.

The hot chocolate: An extremely well prepaired Eraclea chocolate is offered. It is very rich and thick, so you might want to spoon it. A varity of flavours as well as Fondues and combinations with ice cream are available.

The price: I honestly can't remember, but I spent all the rest of my Tolar in there.

The cafe: It's a nice, little pavement cafe.

La Chocolaterie - Leipzig

The hot chocolate: You will be served a very small cup (less than 100ml) of hot chocolate. It seems not that much, but it comes down to pure chocolate. Now milk, foam or anything else. The chocolate is a little bit on the sweet side. After all it's a pity that the chocolate is finished too fast

The price: 3,20€

The cafe: The cafe is located a bit away from the city center in an old building. Basically it is only on small room with one large and a few small tables..

Cafe Fazer - Helsinki

While in Helsinki we can just walk some streets away from Cafe Neuhaus to Cafe Fazer. This cafe is operated by the Fazer company - the Finnish sweets company.

The hot chocolate: They offer two kinds of hot chocolate regular and "Karl Fazer hot chocolate". Don't even bother thinking about the regular one, it's not worth the money (chocolate syrup and milk). The "Karl Fazer" one is one of the most entertaining hot chocolates. It comes with hot milk, a cup of melted chocolate, whipped cream, cinnamon, cardamon, chili, crushed sweets and some chocolate for dessert. It's not the very best chocolate, but one must have seen it.

The price: Something around 5€.

The cafe: Large cafe offering also lunch and many other stuff. It's also open until late. The echo in the back of the restaurant is really interesting.

Cafe Neuhaus - Helsinki

I would like to start my review of hot chocolates around the world with my long time favorite Cafe Neuhaus in Helsinki.

The hot chocolate: There is not much choice. Only probably one of the best hot chocolates I have ever drunk. It's some 46% of real chocolate in real milk with real foam. Prepared fresh.

The price: 4,60€. It's OK for Helsinki prices and the quality

The cafe: It's a small place with a lot of stuff in there. It sells Belgian chocolate, Ben&Jerry ice cream and cakes. Sometimes crowded by tourists. The cups are very large design cups

Why?

Well, I never wanted to write a blog. But I was wondering more than once "Where in this city do I find a decent hot chocolate?" I am pretty sure, I am not the only one asking this question.
